We are working on a dream...the gate is open if you care to join us.

AT THE BACA FLOAT RANCH- TUBAC, AZ

RANCHO RESCATE

Rancho Rescate was established in 2003 by the VanHouten family in honor of a hero,

Patrick J. O’Keefe

A Rescue 1 NYC Firefighter, Pat made the ultimate sacrifice as he saved the lives of many others that tragic day of September 11, 2001.

In an effort to heal both our family and the families of other firefighters lost that day, we focused on “Rancho Rescate” or “Rescue Ranch”. We invited firefighters and the children of those lost to share a week light in heart and heavy in laughter in our “Wild West.” We are extremely proud of the fact that we have been able to do just that for several very special individuals.

As time has marched on, we have realized that the ultimate purpose for Rancho Rescate is yet to be defined and ultimately, the possibilities are endless.  RRx isn’t a place, or one single thing we do- it is an experience; an experience that has and will continue to evolve over time.  For the hundreds that have passed through our gate- marked with the big old steel sign with a cow on it- the experience has been vastly different.  Many have come to work, some have come to rest.  They have come to spend time with family, for fun, on vacation, for a challenge, or simply to talk with an old friend. The purpose may differ, but each and every person that has passed through that gate agrees on one thing...

....this place is rich in a special kind of magic.

Over the course of fifteen years, with a lot of really hard work, we have restored and maintained this historic place- striving to build something better than it was before we came to it. We now have stables, a tack room, a turnout, accommodations for nearly thirty people, an open-air Ramada, Tipi Town, a fully functioning construction shop and most recently, our own Saloon and game room.  We have done it with our own hands and with the help of a distinct group of family and friends.   It definitely isn’t a matter of “look at what we’ve done”-rather a matter of “look at what can be done”.  Like we said, we’re working’ on a dream...the gate is open if you care to join us.
